TO: Division Superintendents
FROM: Patricia I. Wright, Superintendent of Public Instruction
The Virginia Department of Education will conduct a technical assistance webinar designed for school divisions implementing Title I School Improvement sanctions for 2011-2012. Section 1111(h)(4)(F) of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) requires school divisions with schools in Title I School Improvement to collect data related to local implementation of School Improvement sanctions. These data are collected through the annual School Improvement Implementation Survey (SIIS). The Web-based technical assistance opportunity will focus on the data collection elements required for Title I schools in Year 1 and beyond of School Improvement and procedures for reporting the data in SIIS.
The technical assistance webinar will be offered on Wednesday, February 15, 2012, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.; and again on Thursday, February 16, 2012, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. To register your school division for one of the sessions, please complete the attached form and e-mail it to Helen Tucker, administrative assistant, at Helen.Tucker@doe.virginia.gov or fax to (804)371-7347 by Friday, February 10, 2012. Participating school divisions are asked to assemble representatives at one location with a speakerphone and a computer that supports the webinar application. It is recommended that the Title I coordinator, SES coordinator, and student record collections personnel be present for the presentation.
Directions for participating in the webinar are as follows:
