Nominations
for the 2007 Virginia Alternate Assessment Program Standard Setting
Committees |
The Division of Assessment and Reporting is
accepting nominations for the 2007 Virginia Alternate Assessment Program (VAAP)
Standard Setting Committees. Twelve nominees
are needed for each of the three grade span committees: grades 3 through 5,
grades 6 through 8, and grade 11. Each grade span committee will be responsible
for examining student collections of evidence for reading, mathematics,
science, and history/social science, and then recommending cut scores to be
presented to the Virginia Board of Education.
The VAAP Standard Setting Committee Meetings
will be conducted June 4-7, 2007, at the
School divisions are encouraged to nominate
one or more representatives for each standard setting committee.
The VAAP standard setting
committee members will be chosen based on the following criteria:
instructional/supervisory
training and experience;
instructional/supervisory
experience for students with significant cognitive disabilities; and
balanced regional
representation.
Committee members will be
provided the following:
reimbursement
for meals and travel expenses in accordance with state travel policy and
guidelines;
lodging;
honorarium
of $100 per meeting day for committee members not under contract with a school
division at the time of meeting; and
certificate
for recertification points (pending local approval).
Individuals may initiate the
application process or be
nominated. In either case, all nominees
who wish to serve on the VAAP standard setting committees must complete the
Web-based application using the Assessment Committee Application Processing
System (ACAPS). The Web-based application process requires a
professional reference and approval from the division superintendent.
Procedures for submitting the Web-based application process is available at http://www.doe.virginia.gov/VDOE/Assessment/home.shtml.
You are invited to nominate one
or more distinguished educators in your division for each of the three
committees. Completed applications should be submitted to the Virginia
Department of Education using the Web-based ACAPS process by April 6, 2007.
