In the past, the General Assembly has made funds available
to Jobs for Virginia Graduates to fund programs in local school divisions using
the Jobs for
The primary mission of the program is to assist high
school youth who are economically disadvantaged and to provide additional
supports that enable them to graduate, secure and retain quality jobs. Three programs, the senior model, the
multi-year model, and middle school model can be offered independently or in
combination. The school division must
utilize grant funds to employ a job specialist who will work directly with the
students who meet the program criteria.
The job specialist will be required to attend the national training in
School divisions that are interested in submitting
applications for the next fiscal year (July 1, 2007June 30, 2008) should
complete the attached forms and submit the application to Elizabeth M. Russell
at the Department of Education no later than April 1, 2007. If you have program questions, you may
