Recommendations for 2004 Commonwealth Talent Pool |
The Department of Education has established a talent pool that consists of a cadre of distinguished teachers and administrators in Virginias public schools. Candidates from the pool may be considered for membership on advisory boards and task forces such as the Advisory Board on Teacher Education and Licensure; the State Special Education Advisory Committee; the Virginia Advisory Committee for the Education of the Gifted; the Task Force to Develop Requirements for Mentor Teacher Programs; and, the Task Force to Restructure School Leadership Programs in Virginia. In addition, candidates may be considered for special recognition programs such as the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching and the Milken Educator Awards program.
Please submit recommendations for at least three educators from your division who exhibit strong potential for professional leadership and who have a positive impact on students, colleagues, and the community. Preference for 2004 will be given to classroom teachers, kindergarten through grade 6, and elementary principals or assistant principals. Candidates must be individuals who are recognized by peers and supervisors for their achievements.
Please
submit your recommendations on the attached form. All questions must be
answered. Also, please include with this form a one-page letter that specifies
how the candidate meets the criteria mentioned in this memo.
