SUBJECT:

Revised List of Credentials Approved for the Board of Educations Career and Technical Education Seal, the Board of Educations Seal of Advanced Mathematics and Technology, and Student-Selected Verified Credits

 

At its meeting on February 25, 2004, the Board of Education approved additional industry certifications and examinations for the Board of Educations Career and Technical Education Seal, the Seal of Advanced Mathematics and Technology, and the student-selected verified credits. Please note that certain industry certifications and examinations have been removed from the approved list because the certification is too advanced for secondary programs or has been replaced by another designation.

 

The Board of Education also approved additional occupational competency assessments from the National Occupational Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI). The 39 job ready occupational competency assessments that have been approved by the Board of Education from NOCTI can only be used for student-selected verified credit purposes.

 

The revised list of board-approved certifications, licenses, examinations, and occupational competency assessments can be accessed and downloaded at the following Department of Education website: http://www.pen.k12.va.us/VDOE/Instruction/CTE/certification/list.doc. The Web based CTE Administrative Planning Guide will be revised this summer to reflect this board action, and will contain CTE course/program correlations to board-approved certifications, licenses, examinations, and occupational competency assessments as well as summary information for each credential.
