SUBJECT: Public Hearings for Revised Health Education, Physical Education, and Driver Education

The Virginia Board of Education will hold two hearings on April 3, 2001, to solicit public comment on the proposed revised Standards of Learning for Health Education, Physical Education, and Driver Education. These Standards of Learning identify the essential content, processes, and skills for each grade level in these areas. The proposed standards are available on the Internet at:

 The hearings will begin at 7 p.m. Registration of speakers will begin at 6:30 p.m. Speakers will have three minutes to speak and should bring copies of their comments for the Board of Education. Comments may also be mailed by April 3, 2001, to the content specialists listed below. The hearings will be at the following locations:
