SUBJECT: 2000-2001 Annual Report, Programs for Gifted Education

Changes in legislation enacted by the General Assembly in 1999 require each school division to provide the Department of Education with annual information regarding its gifted education program and services. In 1999, the Virginia Code was modified to include the following provision:

Each local school division shall submit the annual report, "Programs for Gifted Education," as required by Board regulations, to the Department of Education. [§22.1-18.1 of the Code of Virginia] The 2000 – 2001 Annual Report for the Education of the Gifted should be completed using Microsoft Excel 97 or later software. The annual report and instructions may be accessed on the Web at the following Internet address:

Completed reports should be sent electronically to the Department of Education (mailto:gar2001@pen.k12.va.us) by July 31, 2001.
